While living at Oxford was associated with the late Colonel Troyte, who was at that time (1867-74) President of the Oxford University Society. Also with the Appleton band & the late Rev F. E. Robinson, Later in London with the late Leonard Proctor.

Details of peals: A composer of ability, he produced compositions of merit, especially Grandsire and Stedman Caters.
