St. Davids Diocesan Guild

Society NameDescriptionsFrom (year)To (year)Web site
St. Davids Diocesan Guild

Founded in Carmarthen. Apparently neither the Diocese nor the Cathedral uses the apostrophe: St. Davids. [Research by John Harrison.]

The was formed on 29th September 1945 just after the conclusion of the Second World War in Europe. Before then many ringers had attended meetings within the Swansea & Brecon Guild or the West Wales Association. With just 9 ringable towers the Guild got off to a flying start with a quarter peal at St David's Cathedral the day after formation and a peal just two months later at Tenby. Even with the remoteness of many towers and with limited transportation in the late 1940's and 1950's the Guild flourished and by 1964 had 13 affiliated towers. [Research and observations associated with the Council Library Certificates Collection by Chris Ridley.]

founded 1945 [Research and observations associated with the Council Library Badge Collection by Chris Ridley.]
