He was the inaugural Secretary and Treasurer of the Cumberland and North Westmorland Association 1947-1948, becoming Ringing Secretary and Ringing Master 1949-1966. He was the Association auditor 1969-1975. When the Carlisle Diocesan Guild was formed he was the auditor 1975-1986.
